American Women Silver Quarters Proof Set on Sale March 29

American Women Quarters Silver Proof Set

On March 29, the US Mint will begin selling the 2022-S American Women Quarters Silver Proof Set.

With no product limitations or limits on household orders, the five-coin set will be available for $73. In addition, the U.S. Mint offers the numismatic product through its enrollment program, under which orders are processed only when the set goes on sale on March 29.

Each coin contains a silver content of .999. Therefore, the total weight of the five coins is 0.995 troy ounces made from .999 fine silver.

These five coins are the first of 20 coins issued every four years to commemorate American Women. Each of the reverse designs features a notable female American.

Author Maya Angelou, space pioneer Sally Ride, Cherokee chief Wilma Mankiller, Nina Otero-Warren, a pioneer of women’s suffrage in New Mexico, and Anna May Wong, the first Chinese-American actress in Hollywood, are among the 5 pioneers will be recognized in 2022.

Each of the 20 coins in the series, which will run through 2025, will feature a portrait of George Washington, designed in 1931 for the competition to redesign the quarter dollar for the bicentennial of Washington’s birth. A bronze sculpture by Robert Fraser was the choice of the Commission of Fine Arts, but Treasury Secretary Andrew W. Mellon chose a portrait of Washington by John Flanagan.

American Women Quarters Silver Proof coins will have mirrored fields with raised, laser-frosted surfaces. The mirrored fields will be a standard-proof finish.

American Women Quarters graded NGC Certified PR69 & PR70 will be available through Rick’s Innovation Dollars in April of 2022.
